While ultraviolet radiation has been known for heating and treating skin conditions, ultraviolet water filtration has just become a new innovation. Having an ultraviolet allows you to have fresh and enriching water by sterilizing your water supply. How does it sterilize the water supply you may wonder?

There are several different ultraviolet water filtration systems out there and it continues to expand with its increasing popularity. By killing the biological contaminants, the filter cleanses the water and allows you to have better tasting water as well. Some of the systems use UV sterilization lamps in the process of the filtration. Regardless, manufacturers continue to make new and improved systems of all sizes.

You now have the option to choose from ultraviolet water filters for the whole house or for single units. This broadens your choice and allows you to mix and match to fit your needs. It can become quite expensive for whole house units, but it makes it extremely convenient throughout the house.

It only makes sense to use light to purify natural substances as oppose to chemicals. There are water filters out there that use chemicals such as chlorine to clean the water. However, it is much more natural and is more effective to use UV sterilization to cleanse the water in your ultraviolet water filter.

The UV lamps give a 99.99% kill rate in your ultraviolet water filtration system making it one of the best on the market. It kills various microorganisms such as E. coli, salmonella, coliform and more. The ultraviolet kills all sorts of microorganisms and does it extremely quickly. However, it does have its downsides like every water filtration system.

The ultraviolet water filtration will not eliminate sediments such as iron. This is a turn off for the people who are attempting to make their water taste better or smell better. You can use this filtration system in conjunction with another designed to remove sediments. This will allow you to remove all sediments and have the most effective microorganism removing system all in one.

It is recommended that you have your water tested to see if you need an additional to remove sediments before purchasing an ultraviolet water filter. The reason being is that you want to install the ultraviolet water filtration system after the sediment filter has been installed. It is much more convenient to have it all done at once as opposed to having to uninstall your ultraviolet to install the sediment filter.

It has its positives and negatives, but there is no denying the ultraviolet is just about the most effective microorganism removing system. With the incredibly high kill rate and the multiple options you have to choose from, it is no wonder it is becoming increasingly popular.
